A patterned-body anthropomorph (animal-human mix, ritualist or supernatural deity), showing a sheep figure. There is also a series of large glyphs of dart points these have been dated at 3000 years before the present. The glyph is from Sheep Canyon in the Coso Range and will be discussed by Dr. Gold at the August lecture.

Homeward Bound: Part of the Museum’s Opening Day Entertainment

The THL Board of Directors dedicated the Tehachapi Museum Research Library in honor of Del Troy, founding member of THL for the many years of service and diligence in collecting publications and documents for our archives.

Local Kawaiisu Native Americans pose with their hand-woven baskets, circa 1920. The new gallery showcases the vintage basketry of local weavers, as well as other artifacts, photos and maps showing their culture and history.

The Grand Re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held on May 22, 2010.

A beautiful Kawaiisu basket woven by Rosie Hicks joins the Williams family collection in the Kawaiisu Gallery. Linda Wiggins Beatty gave it to the museum.

The mammoth bone, fossils, insect specimens and stuffed animals are all grouped together in a section of the museum devoted to Natural History.

The freshly wallpapered and fully restored Errea Kitchen with many vintage items donated by Merrily Flanagan of Collector’s Eye Antiques

The newly furnished Errea Dining Room with furniture donated by Carol Cunningham and a Victrola that belonged to Mrs. Weferling, an early Tehachapi businesswoman, donated by Ed and Susan Wiggins.

An old hand-guided plow, large scythe, rake and other items join the blacksmith shop vignette to illustrate the area’s agricultural and ranching history.

A new docent desk and gift shop fixtures complete the north side of the museum.

Barbed wire samples, items from local agricultural businesses and an apple cider press donated by Mary Cunningha m help complete the ag and ranching exhibits.
