This lodging place was to be called the Tehachapi Hotel by its first owner, Louis Vidaillet

The original Summit School was a two story wooden building with a bell tower. After having been moved across the tracks, the bell tower was removed and the old school became a hotel

After the earthquake, the old building was moved once again, and was used as the Grange until a new Grange was built next door

After the 1952 earthquake, the new building housed several businesses including Yeager’s, Squire’s, and the Post Office
